The COVID-19 pandemic is surely heart wrenching for every person worldwide as many people are suffering and dying. Despite this we cannot ignore the fact that there are also many other things which are killing people day by day. And one of them is tobacco consumption.

Be it in smoke form or smokeless form tobacco is the leading cause of many cancers like oral cancer, lung cancer, esophageal cancer, etc. ‘World No Tobacco Day’ is celebrated around the world every year on May 31.

The theme this year is ‘Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use.’ As we are still under lockdown outdoor programs are impossible. Team dentistry explorer have conducted an interview with Prof. Dr. Jyotsna Rimal.

Prof Dr Jyotsna Rimal is currently Head of Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology in BPKIHS Dharan.

In response to the tobacco and related industries’ systematic, aggressive and sustained tactics to draw in a replacement generation of tobacco users, World No Tobacco Day 2020 is focused to provide a counter-marketing campaign and empower children to interact within the fight against Big Tobacco. ‘Protecting youth from industry manipulation and preventing them from tobacco and nicotine use.’
